Sashiko Petite Pillow

Saturday, Nov. 5 2pm-5pm

Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery and quilting art. A simple running stitch creates bold,
geometric designs inspired by nature, art, and architecture. The Sashiko needlework practice has
been passed down through families since the 1600’s to mend and embellish garments and home
goods for beauty and longevity.

In this workshop, we will focus our “small stabs” stitching strategy on a cozy and petite 12-inch
envelope pillow. Choose from a selection of Sashiko moyozashi patterns and floral motif stencils
including; ocean waves, seven treasures, large flower stitch, wild grasses.
Our workshop will allow time to layout and draw patterns, and get a good start stitching your pillow
for completion at home.

We’ll provide everything you need for your Sashiko embroidered heirloom. All
skill levels welcome!

Each take home class kit includes;
One half yard of cotton or linen fabric, one pair of Olympus brand Sashiko needles, circle templates
pattern instructions, fabric marker, tapestry needle threader.

Communal materials; Miniature Rhino brand Sashiko Stencil Grids, rulers, Sashiko floral and pattern
stencils and templates, thimbles, thread conditioner, communal colorful skeins of Sashiko Olympus
thread strands, fabric markers and pencils, snips and scissors.

This class requires 4 students to run.
