Sweater Mending
Jan 26 from 2pm-5pm
Learn how to fix moth holes, stains, and worn elbows in this class on sweater mending. We’ll make a sewer mending sampler so you can try out 4 different types of mends over the course of this 3 hour class. With these four techniques you can keep your favorite sweater in use, or rehab an old beauty that you found at the thrift store. We’ll talk about visible and invisible mending, as well as mends that add a design element to the sweater.
Darning, patching, duplicate stitch and basic methods of closing up smaller holes are low tech ways to fix your sweater without a lot of tools. We’ll just use embroidery needles and tapestry needles to do all of these different mends. Invest in your skills and your closet will thank you.
If you bring a sweater that is in need of mending, at the end of class you can have a chance to look over it with the teacher and get help making a mending plan.
Bring: Metal tapestry needle, embroidery needles, and wool embroidery thread if you have it.
Provided, sweater fabric for your sampler, patching materials, and various yarn scraps for darning and duplicate stitch.
2 people are needed to run the class.
